Construction Technologies

Construction technology graduates work for private contractors, facility management departments, construction material vendors, insurance agencies, and engineering and surveying firms, as well as public agencies such as departments of transportation, public works, and code enforcement offices. Knowledge and experience in methods and materials of construction for building and highway construction, construction surveying, CAD graphics, concrete, soil, and construction management are all part of construction technology. Some of the duties include cost estimating, construction surveying, drafting changes, submittals, and as-built drawings, construction quality control and quality assurance inspections, projection of critical path scheduling, project coordination, construction administration, project planning and project work breakdown analysis. As part of a project team, one might be responsible for the planning, implementation, inspection, and documentation of a construction project.
